Penn State Has 44th Most Powerful University Brand In The World

2

It seems like Penn State really worked on its #brand this year. According to Times Higher Education’s annual World Reputation Rankings, Penn State has the 44th best reputation in the world for 2016. Time Higher Education says its ranking provides the “definitive list of the top 100 most powerful global university brands.”

The results are based on an invitation-only survey sent to 133 different countries. The survey, the world’s largest of its kind, consulted “senior, published academics” and used nothing other than their subjective understanding. These experts pinpointed universities they consider the best teaching and research institutions in specific regions and the world.

Penn State moved up from last year’s rankings, which listed the university in the 61-70 group. The reputation rankings are part of the criteria for the World University Rankings Times Higher Education releases each fall. Penn State’s improved rank in the reputation survey will hopefully help its position in the university rankings for 2016. The university ranked 75th internationally in 2015.

Despite the unfortunate underscore in our official Twitter handle and an absolutely horrendous new academic mark in the last year, Penn State’s brand is still flourishing. I guess the university’s take on Oreo Thins is a popular one.
