NYC Hope Gala Raises $201,017 for THON

THON 2017 is more than 48 weeks away, but the fundraising is truly a year-round effort. No one event exemplifies that fact more than the annual Hope Gala, which raised $201,017 for THON and the Four Diamonds Fund on Saturday evening in New York City.

The event featured Penn State celebrities like Devon and Leah Still and sports broadcaster Kim Jones, along with THON students, alumni, and supporters alike. The @NYCHopeGala did a great job chronicling the evening on Twitter:

According to the Collegian, the event broke an attendance record with 475 people. The monetary total is also a new record in the Hope Gala’s eight years. Ryan McGarry, the executive producer of the CBS series Code Black who survived stage IV cancer, accepted the first Leah Still Award for Courage (and Leah got to be a Penn State cheerleader for the night).

We’re only 347 days away from THON 2017!
